LIESEL FALKEN

A.K.A. REVNA BYSNOE

Airship and magitek manufacturing enthusiast, aeronautics engineer.

TIDBITS & THINGS

Likes: Sweet fruits of tropical variety, libraries, magitek materials, picking old airship parts, ceruleum, the forested area around Quarrymill, oral tradition
Dislikes: Strict authority and high society, any type of long sword, corrosive fluids that are necessary evils, most fictional novels - often sticks to reading non-fiction and factual materials
Physical characteristics: Athletic, high definition in her upper arms and back, modestly sized chest with wide hips, soft and delicate jet black hair with violet or grey tips, warm-toned deep bronze skin. Smells of lavender and pine.

SOLVEJ & EIRA | CHILDREN

The two kits she left back in Golmore, both being raised by her mother, Sindri. Solvej is the eldest, quickly followed by Eira. Revna bears a close bond to both of her children, accompanying them on regularly scheduled hunts and competitive events with their community. Being apart from them has left a large void in her heart.

• She's a night owl and works late into the evening. Whether it be writing, designing, or restoring parts, she's either in her workshop or tavern trying to conjure up something new.
• Can talk incessantly about her children if you ask too much. (Best not to ask...)
• Has a full gallery of miniature airships in her residence and a miniature Alexander that she is proud to own.

AT A GLANCE

Revna is a Rava Viera with a upbeat and cheerful disposition, she can come off strange and quirky but never loses her stride. Revna can be found roaming the streets of Ul'dah or Ishgard (and perhaps the garbage) looking for her next piece to fashion for an airship. She enjoys speaking with all kinds of people, keeping her mind open to all of the possibilities. As for her origins, few know where she's been. What's most notable about Revna from the get-go is her literacy and ability to deciper complex manuscripts, diagrams, and mathematics without credentials of a higher institution like Sharlayan.

THE FOREFRONT OF INNOVATION

Revna is a passionate mechanic and inventor. She holds a great wealth of knowledge concerning airships, ballistics, magitek, and Imperial technology. Revna is associated with, but not employed by, Garlond Ironworks. At the Skysteel Manufactory, she is contracted to assemble aetherotransformer packs with matching weaponry for the Ishgardian military. Additionally, she is a contracted mechanic for any client who finds themselves in a bit of trouble with the skies.

FROM ARCHERY TO A MACHINIST IN THE MAKING

Her roots as a huntress and jungle survivalist in her past has made her an excellent marksman. With a long time passing between the past and today, life has been different for Revna. While she retains a lot of that hands on experience, not everything can be applied and compared accurately. She is still in search of knowledge and field experience as a Machinist, often humble of her skill. Revna is still in the process of engineering her Rook Autoturret, has fashioned her own gun, which may be a familiar sight to some Garleans...

IMMIGRATION INTO ISHGARD & "LIESEL"

Assimiliation into a new culture is difficult and each interaction seems worse than the last. One would wonder, why would this Viera come to this cold and snowy climate for the Skysteel Manufactory? Perhaps old habits are hard to let go. Revna is extremely ignorant to the intricacies of their harsh society, often oversimplifying and generalizing what she can gather from people she has spoken to, if they would give her the time. She goes by the name "Liesel Falken" and will introduce herself to any character as such. The only other character who knows her by "Revna" would be her half-brother. Protecting her forest name is of utmost importance; she holds her traditions and customs sacred.

PART I: HAPPY LIFE

SPOILERS. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Revna hails from the Paharo Village within the Golmore Jungle in Dalmasca Inferior. In her past, she was an average huntress from her village who protected and served the Wood with pride. It was no surprise that she happily went on to conceive a child to continue the consistent and enduring lineage of her family. She gave birth to her first child, Solvej, whom she raised alongside her mother as a fellow hunter to provide meat and protect the village. Once Solvej came of age, Revna went on to try for her second child. The night she met her second suitor, she fell deeply in love. Amidst the lonely life of a male Viera, she found herself at home within the walls of Mir’s home. During her second pregnancy with Mir’s child, she continued to visit him in secret at night. Like any Viera village, the women are kept separate from the men and live in harmony this way. Revna decided that she wanted to live out the rest of her life with Mir but could not foresee this in their current situation. Revna had it in her mind to elope with her beloved Mir.It was not long until Revna gave birth to her second child, Eira, who was the splitting image and likeness of Mir. They planned to elope once Eira was able to handle a bow and arrow on their own. Revna’s blissful life in the village and plans with Mir fell through when she was caught off guard. On a regularly scheduled hunt for boars, her squadron happened upon an unlikely scene. A large airship descended upon the region around the Orbonne Monastery and a fight had begun to ensue.

PART II: ASSIMILATION

Soldiers donning Imperial uniforms with high tech weaponry shot blue flames at the huntresses—each one of her tribeswoman fighting to their bloody end to protect their home. Revna included. With her weapon burnt and split in two, battered, bruised and bloodied, the soldier deciding to take the finishing blow was halted by a peculiar commander. “There. Her eyes. She may be of some use to us.”Revna lost consciousness as she was carried onto the airship, leaving behind her village, her daughters, and her lover. Once awoken in a singular room, she was instantly sedated by a doctor and put through a series of tests to confirm the presence of aether manipulation within her body without Revna physically demonstrating. Her first months as a conscript for the Garlean Empire were not simple. It was difficult for the Rava to assimilate herself, even angry to see fellow captured Viera within the ranks.Based out of Dalmasca, day and night she was forced into classes to learn how to read and (eloquently) write common, study mathematics, physics, engineering and most importantly, magitek. Little did Revna know, she was slated to participate as a conscript in a highly secretive research facility. The key to survival among the Garlean conscripts was to think and act like one. She was soon employed to work in an assembly line that put together various magitek armors and ceruleum-powered airships. The Rava was able to put food on her table and keep herself alive while she planned an escape. What goes up, must come down. Word of Doma and Ala Mhigo’s Resistance spread like wildfire among Garlemald, striking anxiety and fear into the remaining commanding officers. At the will of their leader, the measly funds that were drained out of the remaining territories were used to provide support and manpower for the army. The funding for her division had suddenly dried up and her colleagues began to disappear each day: one by one. Revna, keeping her head down and ears up, realizing that the division was being completely eradicated. Aether-wielding conscripts and prisoners were too dangerous to keep in a research facility unless they were 1) experiments, or 2) align themselves to be soldiers for the war. Revna wanted neither of those things. In order to keep herself alive, she planned a thorough escape of the facility. Guards and surveillance were kept 24/7 but with the right timing and manipulation of the aether-generated devices, she is able to slip away into the night with her ears tucked and shoved under a hood.

PART III: REBIRTH

Because of Revna’s incredible literacy and little amount of gil, she is able to pay certain chocobo stations for shorter distances to get herself away from the Empire’s eyes. She was not a wanted criminal, nor did she believe that they would come back for her. And she was right, they never did. Her only obstacle from that point forward was to find a way into Eorzea and claim refugee or asylum status with one of the city-states.It was a difficult and arduous journey wrought with dangerous exchanges, haggling, doing odd jobs. When she finally gathered the funds to make the two month long journey across the Sirensong Sea, she finally found her freedom in Limsa Lominsa. Immediately registering with the Maelstrom and claiming asylum, her citizenship was reviewed and almost immediately approved. Viera were far and few between in Eorzea, making it well-known she’d traveled quite far.Far from home without her children, her love, and her village, Revna started her life from scratch. Her time with Garlemald was not forgotten, as she began to carry a passion and understanding for ceruleum and its relationship to non aether-wielding people. Revna often visited smith shops’ waste bins out back or junkyards to pick parts from, bringing them back to her tiny apartment to restore and resell the parts to curious clients.Ironworks took a liking to Revna’s eye and passion for excellence and became a consistent client on her journey to rebuild her life, buying restored parts at high price points. Along the way, she found the opportunity to become a journalist for a newspaper called The Nova Register, who report current happenings around the city-states and their newly acquired Alliance. Her literacy, ability to stand neutral, and weave a delicate story is what earned her a name among journalism in Eorzea. Her connection to Ironworks brought her to Ishgard and the Skysteel Manufactory, where she took an interest in the Machinists’ Guild and tinkering with their weapons to her liking. Revna became a natural with guns, continuing to study underneath the guild’s wing to present day. Revna has moved on from her residence in Limsa Lominsa and found herself a pretty estate in the Brimming Heart of Ul’dah as well as an office in Ishgard. While she has made successful strides for herself, Revna often does not mention her past and where she has come from, other than her life in Golmore Jungle. While no longer a daughter of the Wood, she holds her chin high with pride and love for her people, hoping her children can continue their proud traditions.

VIERA. Taken away from her homeland, Revna's heart is still with her people in the jungle. She is proud to educate and talk about her mother and children back in Golmore. This is honestly one of Revna's strongest hooks - she is proud of her heritage and roots and is happy to share that with fellow Viera in a cultural exchange, both Veena and Rava. She is a proud mother of two! (Pls, we embrace all Viera)MAGITEK, PARTS, AIRSHIPS. You can talk shop with Revna about machinery and be surprised to find out she's well-versed in fuel grades, metallurgy, and regularly catalogues parts (think of her as a tech or a mechanic at an auto shop). In RPland, we can talk about her providing parts or connections your character needs for an airship or a submersible voyage. I pretty much make up most of her catalogue on the spot for RP purposes. She is a grease monkey! Revna is currently building her own Rook Autoturret (and investigating possibilities of a "Queen.") If your character finds that particularly sexy, then you are in luck. Yes, she canonly owns the motorcycle.YOU'RE A DISTINGUISHED ISHGARDIAN. By day, she works as a journalist for The Nova Register. If you are an Ishgardian noble, she is always interested in speaking with and interviewing you for her next article. Revna also has a love affair with Ishgardian culture as a whole, spending time at the Skysteel Manufactory and her Featherfall junk room Offices. I'm very OK with your Ishgardian character being uncomfortable with her. This is a good hook if your character has "rumors" circulating about them and can potentially be a point of contention.DON'T SEE A HOOK? I don't mind figuring something out. Revna is relatively easy to work around due to her cheerful and upbeat attitude. You can also look here for some extra information on her!

RP HOOKS

DECOMMISSIONING WARMACHINA. Have an old piece of junk with Garlean symbols laying around that your character doesn't need? Have you stumbled upon a belligerent piece of warmachina that is programmed to constantly kill and destroy? You're in luck. Revna specializes in such machinery and can decommission and re-program any type of tech or warmachina to either be shut down or purposed for... other things! She can be found in the wastes of Garlemald trying to do such a thing.MAGITEK, PARTS, AIRSHIPS. She is a grease monkey. Revna is currently building her own Rook Autoturret (and investigating possibilities of a "Queen.") If your character finds that particularly sexy, then you are in luck.YOU ARE/WERE A GARLEAN CONSCRIPT. This is a hook that needs a lot of OOC pre-planning and discussion. Revna has a great deal of history pertaining to the Garlean Empire and is knowledgable of gunships and assault crafts. Most notably, her revolver is of a pre-Imperial Garlean design.AETHEROLOGY AND...? This is an extremely rare hook. If you character happens to experience some instability of aether or supernatural disturbance, Revna is interested to investigate their secrets. And perhaps, unlock a secret of her own.DON'T SEE A HOOK? I don't mind figuring something out. Revna is relatively easy to work around due to her cheerful and upbeat attitude. You can also look here for some extra information on her!

INVENTORY

Pre-Imperial Garlean Revolver, basic model, fake

A modified version of the infamous original found in the hands of Sharlayan scholars. It is a copy of an original and may not follow the all design cues to a T.

Aetherotransformer

Lightning-aspected at its default state, altered slightly to accommodate the load that her revolver can handle. Currently not tuned to emit gas or higher potency ballistics. Come back later, okay?!

Reassembly Kit

Carries a kit on her person containing several sized wrenches & quad ratcheting wrenches, assorted magitek sockets, multi-bit screwdriver (and precision), heavy duty nut driver, aetheric flashlights/head light, a pair of work gloves. Can be used to reassemble her weapon or make quick repairs. And dirty work rag!

Lavender and Pine oil, fragrance

Nothing says sexy like grease, oil, and the stench of ceruleum, said no one ever. Revna is often insecure about her hygiene, forgetting she’s spending hours on hours tinkering around in an engine room.

BOOKS & JOURNALS

Leatherbound journal (soft cover) & Quill?

The contents of his journal are highly classified. Flip through it if you dare. Her quill is a unique invention of hers—it never seems to run out of ink, or has a large reservoir hidden inside of it…

Blue Manual (soft cover)

The contents of this book contain nothing an average layman could read, but it does contain information about different parts of an airship, various diagrams and notes. It seems to be a Bible on airship engineering…

Language of Eorzea, Vol. I & II

Obtained in Old Sharlayan's Noumenon by Revna during a short study trip, where she met Mirna Viras. The Viera carries these books in her travel bags just in case she will need to translate Common to a different language.
